Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit to the United Kingdom, saying the diplomatic engagement offers significant opportunities to bolster Nigeria’s economic recovery programmes.

Speaking at Government House during Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, Adeleke described the visit as “rare” and “truly unique”, commending the president and the Federal Government for the historic engagement.

“I commend Mr President for this rare honour and opportunity to advance Nigerian economic and political interests. The visit is truly unique and holds huge potential for Nigerian development,” he said.

Adeleke urged the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) and subnational governments to capitalise on the visit by building partnerships between Nigerian states and devolved UK entities.

“Imagine an economic partnership between Osun and Scotland or Wales. I will push that the Nigerian Governors Forum should capitalise on this productive state visit to the UK by Mr President. We need to take the partnership to the state and local level,” he said.

The governor also used the occasion to felicitate with the Muslim Ummah in Osun and across Nigeria on the successful completion of Ramadan, praying that Almighty Allah accept their fasting.
