Award-winning Nigerian artiste, Adekunle Gold, has inaugurated the newly renovated Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (National Theatre), Lagos, with a sold-out orchestral performance, becoming the first artiste to headline the iconic venue since its restoration.

The concert, which sold out within five days, featured Adekunle Gold performing alongside the MUSON Orchestra and his band, The 79th Element.

The night marked a major cultural moment, reintroducing the National Theatre as a premier hub for large-scale, world-class artistic performances in Nigeria.

Performing songs from his critically acclaimed album, Fuji, as well as hits from his decade-long catalogue, Adekunle Gold delivered reimagined orchestral versions supported by live instrumentation and cinematic stage design.

The fusion of popular music and classical orchestration drew widespread praise from fans and industry stakeholders, many describing the show as historic and a turning point for Nigerian live music.

The Lagos concert follows Adekunle Gold’s orchestral debut at the EFG London Jazz Festival in November 2025, where he became the first Nigerian artiste to headline an orchestral show at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

With the landmark Lagos performance, Adekunle Gold has further cemented his reputation as a leading figure in Nigerian music, setting a new standard for live concert production and cultural expression.
