Adegoke seeks second gold as Olajide aims for crown

MTN CHAMPS Ambassador, Enoch Adegoke is on track to win his second title of the competition after dominating his heat in 21.23 seconds.

Olaolu Olatunde, the 100m bronze medalist, ran the second fastest overall in 21.54 seconds, winning his heat ahead of Jeremiah Nathaniel and Obashola Olaoluwa. Kabiru Muhammed won the third heat.

Meanwhile, 13th African Games full medalist, Olayinka Olajide continued her superlative performance at the MTN CHAMPS Ibadan, winning 200m heat with 23.42sec.

Olajide, last month in Accra 2023, set a record of 24.18sec. Behind Olajide was Stella Ayanleke, 24.87 sec and Ayotomilola Owoeya came third with a time of 25.11 sec.

Mariam Jegede (25.06s), Ayomide Omotosho (25.16s), and Tunmininu Sanyaolu (25.39s) set the overall fastest times in the Junior (U20) Girls’ 200m heats. Stella Ayanleke overcame her disappointment at not making the African Games final to win the women’s 100m Hurdles at MTN CHAMPS Ibadan in 13.80 seconds, with Grace Ayemoba and Tumininu Sanyaolu following. Gafar Badmus dominated the rest of the competitors to win the junior.
