Party targets 21 million votes across Nigeria
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, presidential candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said that the party will train over one million five hundred youths through the platform of support groups to help protect its votes at polling units across the country.
Atiku Abubakar, who made the revelation on Thursday in Abuja during the ADC town hall meeting organised by the party’s support groups, noted that the 2027 election would provide another opportunity for Nigerians to make the right choice, adding that they must not shy away from doing the right thing.
Atiku, who was represented at the occasion, urged leaders of support groups to mobilise voters at the grassroots, with the sole aim of taking over the leadership of the country.
He, however, admonished the support groups to shun and resist vote trading.
“I advise you all to resist being lured into betraying your conscience. They should avoid being lured with money and promises from the ruling APC.”
Atiku further stated that he was in the race to give back to society, with a promise that his running mate, Chibuzor Amaechi, would take over after one term, even though Nigerians would yearn for his second term after seeing the transformation in his four years in office.
Also speaking, Chief Okey Nwaosu, former National Chairman of the ADC, corroborated earlier that the party had at least 1,500 support groups to police the 2027 election campaign.
Nwaosu, however, rued the threat by the security agencies controlled by the incumbent to stifle the powers of the opposition.
“We have been battling the Mallam El-Rufai issue. But they wouldn’t bring us down. We must continue to fight until victory is assured.”
Alhaji Hashim, Imam, in an opening address, stated that Nigerians had come to a conclusion that the administration of the APC needed to be changed come 2027. In addition, he said that Nigerians were still battling several economic logjams, including insecurity, fuel subsidy removal, as well as other critical issues. To achieve these things, you, the youths and support groups must rise to make it happen.
Meanwhile, Imam revealed that the party, among the support groups, had set up several sub-committees, including a vote protection group, logistics and others.

He said votes were no longer won in Abuja, but at the polling units, and that the groups must rise to man all polling units to achieve this.
Former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Waziri Maina, while addressing the support groups, said they must rise to the occasion to redeem the country.
Senator Dino Melaye, while delivering a keynote address, warned that the EFCC, under the control of the ruling APC, should henceforth cease to invite ADC Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for questioning. Senator Melaye, who drummed up support for the restoration of fuel subsidy, reiterated that the party would no longer tolerate incessant harassment by the Controlled APC.

National Women Leader of ADC, Mrs Naomi Nasara, appealed to the youths through the support groups to rise and rescue Nigeria.
She further called on Nigerian women to protect their votes and resist any harassment at the polling units. She, however, announced a slogan, ‘one woman 10 votes’.
Barrister Kenneth, spokesperson to Atiku Abubakar, said the opposition parties needed a unified message to defeat the incumbent. He said that though all may speak with different voices, they had one fundamental political proposition.
Okonkwo re-echoed the restoration of the fuel subsidy to rescue the lives of dying Nigerians.
“This is what ADC stands for. It is all about restoring the lives of citizens. Our campaign must be people-centred. Our message has to be practised so that everyone will connect to a single purpose of liberating the people.”
