ADC taught me more than any political science degree — Aisha Yesufu

Aisha Yesufu, a human rights activist, claims that no political science degree could have prepared her for what she has learnt and continues to learn in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement confirmed this in a message released on her X account on Saturday.

Yesufu joined the ADC on December 31, 2025, just after former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi defected to the party.

“The things I am learning just by being a registered member of ADC, no political science degree would have taught me those things, and I love it.

“Political parties are where the real power brokering takes place. Joining ADC is the best decision I have ever made,” she said.

Recall that Yesufu had recently advised opposition leaders, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, to adopt practical campaign strategies that directly address the economic hardship faced by many Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.

She argued that widespread poverty has made many citizens more concerned about immediate survival than political messaging.
