The Cross River State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has suspended the National Vice Chairman South South of the party, Dr. Usani Uguru Usani.

Hon. James Otudor, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, disclosed this in a statement made available in Calabar.

He said the State Working Committee of the party made this decision following its meeting held on Wednesday, 15th October 2025.

Giving more reasons for the decision, he said, “The party, having reviewed a series of actions, utterances, and conducts by Dr. Usani, found them to be inconsistent with the provisions of the ADC Constitution.

“Dr. Usani had in recent times engaged in anti-party activities, wilful insubordination to constituted party authority, and other acts capable of undermining the image, cohesion, and electoral prospects of the ADC.”

The statement adds that in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution and disciplinary code, and in exercise of the powers vested in the State Working Committee, the suspension takes immediate effect.

When contacted, State Chairman of the party, Dr. John Ogar, confirmed the development.

Dr. Usani Uguru is one of the new members of the ADC coalition in the state and once served as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs during the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari.

He has yet to formally react to his suspension by his new party, and efforts to get in touch with him have been unsuccessful.
