National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has launched efforts to heal divisions within the party following grievances generated by its recently concluded primary elections.
Mark urged party members to avoid inflammatory statements, unnecessary litigation and internal sabotage, warning that such actions could further weaken the ADC ahead of the 2027 general election.
He spoke in Abuja while inaugurating an 11-member National Reconciliation and Peace Committee at the party’s national secretariat.
The committee is expected to engage aspirants, candidates, party leaders and other stakeholders to resolve outstanding grievances, restore trust and strengthen unity within the party.
Mark said the initiative was focused on “strengthening the party, healing wounds, rebuilding trust and ensuring that every member of the ADC feels valued and carried along”.
According to him, although the primaries produced candidates who emerged victorious, the process also left some members disappointed and aggrieved.

He said such grievances must be addressed before the party enters the 2027 electoral contest.
“An election may determine who carries the flag, but it must never determine who belongs to the party,” Mark said.
The ADC chairman urged successful candidates not to regard their victories as a basis for sidelining those they defeated, stressing that all members remained important to the party’s future.
“Those who did not emerge victorious remain valuable members of the ADC. Their experience, networks, structures and commitment remain important assets,” he said.
Mark tasked the reconciliation committee with creating an avenue for constructive dialogue, identifying legitimate concerns and working towards acceptable solutions to disputes arising from the primaries.
He also called on members to make use of the party’s internal dispute-resolution mechanisms, while recognising their constitutional right to seek justice through the courts.
