The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned dissenting factions that any unauthorised congress or convention ahead of 2027 would be null and void.
Chairman of state chairmen, Kingsley Ogga, in a notice yesterday, said the party had fixed dates for its non-elective congresses and special convention, stressing that only NEC-backed processes would be recognised.
According to the statement, ward and local government area congresses would be held on May 7, 2026, followed by State Congresses on May 8, while the special convention and presidential primary are slated for May 24.

Citing the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act and a Federal High Court’s judgment in Abuja, NEC insisted it remains the sole authority to conduct party activities nationwide.
It cautioned members and aspirants against dealing with caretaker committees, interim National Working Committees (NWC) or splinter groups.
“Any parallel congress, convention, primary, delegate process or nomination organised by unauthorised groups will be null, void and legally ineffective,” the notice said.
It added that only outcomes from its approved processes would be valid for the 2027 general elections, signalling a deepening internal power tussle within the party.
