The African Democratic Congress has released the timetable for its nationwide congresses as the party prepares for its national convention later in April.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the party said the exercise would commence with polling unit and ward congresses scheduled for April 7.

This will be followed by local government area congresses on April 9 and state congresses on April 11, before the process culminates in the party’s national convention slated for April 14.

The timetable was jointly announced by the party’s national organising secretary, Chinedu Idigo, and national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, who said the exercise forms part of efforts to renew the party’s leadership structures across the country.

According to the statement, members interested in contesting for vacant positions are expected to obtain and submit the necessary nomination or expression of interest forms through the party’s official website.

The leadership urged party members nationwide to actively participate in the congresses and ensure the process is conducted in line with the party’s constitution and democratic principles.

The congresses are expected to determine new leadership structures at various levels ahead of the convention, where the outcomes of the internal party elections will be formally ratified.
