No fewer than 18 residents have been killed in an attack by suspected insurgents on Kirchinga community in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Local sources confirmed that the attackers stormed the community late Monday night, shooting indiscriminately and setting houses ablaze. Several persons were reported missing, while many homes were destroyed during the assault.
The governor visited the affected community on Tuesday to assess the situation and sympathise with bereaved families.
Speaking during the visit, the governor condemned the killings and described the attack as a deliberate act of terror against innocent citizens. He assured residents that security operations would be intensified to prevent further violence.

“We will not allow criminal elements to destabilise our communities. Security agencies have been directed to sustain pressure on the perpetrators,” he said.
Residents said the attack caused widespread panic, forcing many families to flee to neighbouring communities for safety.
As of press time, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement detailing the casualty figures or confirming arrests in connection with the attack in both Madagali and Hong local governments.
Madagali, located in northern Adamawa State, has experienced repeated insurgent attacks over the years due to its proximity to areas previously occupied by Boko Haram fighters.
