Presidential candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, has hailed the judiciary over the Appeal Court judgment which set aside the High Court judgment on the deregistration of the Action Alliance, Accord, African Democratic Congress (ADC) and two other political parties.
Omoaje, who is also the National Chairman of the AA, said the judiciary has again proven to be above board and remains the last hope of the common people.
Describing the judgment as a landmark victory for the rule of law, democracy and the people, Omoaje said the judgment has again boosted the confidence of Nigerians in the judiciary as the bastion of hope and truth.
The presidential hopeful, who stated that the pillar of any democracy is the people, stressed that the hope of Nigerians in democracy has further been enlivened through the judgment, which he described as a landmark one.

The judgment, Omoaje said, would further enhance democratic governance in Nigeria, saying that the rule of law, which democracy relies on, has through the judgment been established again.
In the judgment, the appellate court set aside the earlier judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, which had directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), Accord Party (AP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) over their performance in the 2023 general elections.
The affected political parties had appealed the judgment, asking the Court of Appeal to overturn the decision.
In its ruling, the appellate court described the Federal High Court’s judgment as “a nullity,” stating that “what the learned trial court did amounted to judicial impertinence or what the Supreme Court called judicial insubordination.”
