Accra 2023 Organising Committee is wary of Team Nigeria’s rising profile in international sporting events.
According to insidethegames, the Organising Committee executive chairman, Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, is of the opinion that Nigeria’s presence at the Games will hinder their hosting to win mantra.
Ofosu-Asare, who led a five member committee to Ghana’s leading newspaper, Graphic Communications Group Limited, said the committee is working with its national federations to prepare Ghanaian athletes.
Team Nigeria came 2nd at the Rabat 2019 African Games with a medal haul of 126 (46 gold, 33 silver and 47 bronze medals), while Ghana, on her part, ended the games with a paltry two golds, two silvers and nine bronze medals.
