The Accord (A) has demanded the resignation of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to unfreeze the Osun State government’s accounts.
Tinubu had condemned the timing of the freeze, coming less than two weeks before the state’s gubernatorial election.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Accord National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, stated that the anti-graft agency overreached its statutory powers, violated the 1999 Constitution, and acted with impunity.

He accused the commission of partisanship aimed at weakening Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration and assisting the opposition in capturing the state.
Mgbudem commended President Tinubu for his prompt intervention in ordering an immediate unfreeze after expressing deep embarrassment over the agency’s actions. However, he maintained that the EFCC leadership has lost public trust.
He called on Olukoyede to step down or be dismissed by the President to restore the commission’s integrity, emphasising that elections must not be militarised or subverted using state apparatuses.
