Thousands of Cross River indigenes, resident mainly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, participated in the one million-man march to create awareness and drum up support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, their state governor, Bassey Otu, and senator, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The indigenes, who came out massively from every part of Abuja, promised to deliver over two million votes that will ensure their re-election during the elections next year.
While describing their re-election as a mission accomplished, they said that many of them will not only travel back to their various villages and towns in the state, having routed their voter cards there.
Conveners of the million-man march, Gabriel Bravo, Don Enamhe, and Francisca Ogar, in a chat with newsmen during the endorsement awareness campaign, claimed that the trio of President Tinubu, Governor Otu, and Senator Jarigbe have done marvellously well to merit re-election next year.
“President Tinubu has done very well for Cross River. First, if you look at the coastal highway, it’s unimaginably second to none. You can also look at his investment in the Bakassi Deep Sea Port.
“Above all, this government gave us two ministerial slots at the beginning.
“However, even as we are thanking Mr President, we are equally asking for more than we have gotten.

“In every consideration, Mr President has done well and deserves re-election and that is why we are drumming support for him,” Enamhe noted.
“As for Senator Jarigbe, he is a young man who has put himself in the heart of his people. Ever since he became senator he has rewritten the story of senatorial representation in Cross River North.
“We never knew that senators could work the way he is working. He is in every community in the 54 wards of Cross River North. He is everywhere. There is no community that doesn’t have more than five projects.
“Some strategic roads have been completed. The six-bedroom classrooms, and scholarships to our sons and daughters, including those travelling abroad, just to mention a few areas he has done well,” the other conveners extolled his virtues.
Making an appeal to the leadership of the ruling party, Mrs Ogar said: “To the leadership of the APC in Cross River State it is obvious that for them to get somebody to represent them in the 2027 elections you need somebody who has the kind of massive following that will ensure that we win the elections. Not just massive following but someone who has delivered the best, a household name for a reason.
“The Senator is a man of the people. That is why they call him the People’s Senator. He’s close to the people. He has their hearts, and the ears of the people. I think that the leadership should do themselves a favour by endorsing a credible candidate.
“When you talk about credibility right now in Cross River State I stand to be corrected, in the whole National Assembly there is no senator more acceptable to the people across Cross River and beyond than him. He is somebody his name stands out and somebody that will get the votes needed to get into the Senate,” she said.
