The Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Nigeria Police Force for being up and doing in the discharge of its duties and for its support in providing security of lives and property in the state.

He gave the commendation when he hosted the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of South West, Abiodun Alabi, in his office at Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.

Abiodun stated: “We have enjoyed the cooperation of the police. Their collaboration with other security agencies like the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) and of course, our Amotekun, has led to the peaceful atmosphere that we enjoy and this has also encouraged investors to come and do business in our state.

“That is why we can boldly say that Ogun state remains the industrial capital of Nigeria and the fastest growing economy in Nigeria. I want to thank the IGP Kayode Egbetokun for the support. I want to thank you and your men for what you do in Ogun State.”

Earlier in his address, the DIG, Alabi, said: “There is no society that is crime free, as you all know. Crime is a galloping phenomenon. Today, it can be brought down to almost zero level. Tomorrow, there is that tendency for it to be up again. It is now left for us to go back to the drawing board and re-strategize and implement a strategic policing plan to deal with it decisively.”

During his visit, Alabi also met with the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III, who gave him his royal blessing.
