The Osun State Police Command has told hunters to abide by the rules of hunting and avoid acts that can cause accidental discharge of guns.

A statement by the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, on Wednesday, expressed displeasure over incessant cases of accidental discharge that have occasioned the death of some innocent citizens.

He said the command would no longer tolerate the misfiring of the gun, warning that any act of negligence would no longer be treated with levity.

“The police command is using this medium to caution hunters on the need to abide by the rules of a hunting expedition.

“Therefore, the command advises hunters to avoid putting loaded gun(s) in their homes as children or any other person could be tempted to play with it or test their level of inquisitiveness and equally desist from loading their gun(s) inhabited areas, to reduce the hazards of accidental discharge which is very dangerous to human lives,” Opalola said.
