Traders at Ngwa Road Market (Ahia Ohu), under the banner of Abia Arise Ngwa Road Market chapter, have endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office.

This comes as the governor has flagged off the 2026 Abia State Tertiary Education Sports Fiesta with the symbolic lighting of the Torch of Unity.

Speaking in Aba during a meeting, the Coordinator, Abia Arise, Ngwa Road Market chapter, Ndubuisi Ejeagba Nendes, said other candidates endorsed by the traders for 2027 include Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Speaker of Abia House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa, Hon Ucheonye Stephen Akachukwu and Ijeoma Florence Auche, all of Labour Party (LP).

Nendes said they are supporting LP candidates because of the good works their leader, Governor Otti, has done in the state.

Nendes described Governor Otti as a man who, apart from providing solid infrastructure, generally changed the narrative of governance in the state.

“What Governor Otti has done since he assumed office is visible enough for even his opponents to see and return him to office in 2027.”

He said apart from the glaring performance of the governor, the other candidates they have endorsed had individually performed creditably.

Meanwhile, Governor Otti has officially flagged off the 2026 Abia State Tertiary Education Sports Fiesta with the symbolic lighting of the Torch of Unity, marking the commencement of sporting activities among tertiary institutions in the state.

Receiving the Torch, the governor charged participating institutions to play according to the rules, while assuring that his administration would continue to support sports development in the state.

Governor Otti noted that the Fiesta would bring together students from public and private tertiary institutions, including federal and state-owned institutions, to promote unity, healthy competition, sportsmanship and youth development.

The Torch of Unity will travel across the participating institutions, spreading the message of togetherness and encouraging greater participation in sports.
