Abia police arraign man over alleged abuse of son

The Abia State Police Command has arraigned one Mr Lambert Evans Uzoma, who allegedly abused his son, Master Ugonna Uzoma.

According to a statement by the command, the suspect was charged to court following the conclusion of investigations by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia.

Upon arraignment, Uzoma was remanded in correctional custody, while the victim was handed over to the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care, rehabilitation and continued protection.

Uzoma, of No. 2B Nwokocha Close, off Udeagbala Road, Abayi, Aba, Abia State, was arrested on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, following a viral video circulated on social media. The video allegedly showed the young boy tied with a rope, brutally flogged, severely injured, stripped naked and left exposed under the scorching sun. The victim is currently in the custody of the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs, where he is receiving appropriate care and protection.
