The Obidient Movement in Abia State on Saturday held a one-million-man march in celebration of the birthday anniversary of the ex-presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi.
This is even as Governor Alex Otti has sent warm greetings to Obi on his birthday.
In Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the Obidients gathered at Okpara Square as early as 8:30am, from where they moved through major streets of the city, dancing and displaying their banners to the admiration of motorists and passers-by, some of whom joined in the long procession.
The joyous Obidients ended their march at the Afara Correctional Centre, where they showered inmates with several gift items.
Speaking, the Coordinator of Obidient Movement in the state, Dr Chibuzor Obiesili, said the procession, which was held simultaneously in four towns in the state, was to demonstrate what Obi stands for in society.
He said nobody sponsored or influenced them to hold the procession; rather, they did it voluntarily to tell political leaders in the country that they could always be remembered by the masses should they have integrity.
Reports from Aba indicated that the Obidients gathered in their numbers at the Osisioma Flyover, from where they marched through major streets of the city down to Aba South Local Government Headquarters.

Meanwhile, Governor Otti has sent birthday greetings to Obi on the occasion of his 64th birthday celebration.

Governor Otti recalled that Mr Obi’s reign as the Governor of Anambra State brought huge positive tidings for the people of the state and marked a huge turning point in the socio-economic development of Anambra State.
Otti commended Obi for remaining steadfast in his positive contributions to the development of the nation, as well as his consistent peaceful disposition at all times, describing him as an exemplary positive influence in leadership and governance.
