A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Chief (Mrs.) Lillian Obenwa, has called on the people of Isuikwuato Local Government Area to support the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, in 2027.
Obenwa, popularly known as “Igolo,” made the call on Monday during Kalu’s ongoing ward-to-ward tour of Isuikwuato, saying both leaders had records which, in her view, deserved continued support.
She said Kalu’s representation in Abia North had brought interventions in road construction, education, scholarships, empowerment and legislative representation.
“We have seen what Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has done in Abia North. We have seen the roads, the schools, scholarships, empowerment programmes and opportunities he has attracted for our young people. He has also given Abia North a strong voice in Abuja,” Obenwa said.
According to her, Kalu had facilitated more than 70 road projects across the five local government areas of Abia North and the construction and renovation of over 100 school blocks and classrooms.
Kalu has also publicly listed those figures among projects and interventions attributed to his representation of Abia North.
Obenwa also listed the provision of desks, textbooks, school uniforms and other educational materials, as well as scholarships and international training opportunities for constituents, among interventions facilitated by the senator.
“When somebody is working, you encourage him to do more. Senator Kalu has remained close to his people. He comes back home, visits the communities, listens to the people and takes their concerns back to Abuja. That is the kind of representation we want,” she said.
Kalu’s tour has taken him through several communities and wards in Isuikwuato, including Oguduasa, Avuvu, Nunya, Isuamawu Ward 4 in Eluama, Umubiala Ward 12 and Otamkpa Ward 3.

Recent reports on the tour also indicate that residents and community leaders have used the engagements to raise demands for additional roads, schools and other infrastructure.
At the various stops, the senator presented his stewardship to residents, listened to concerns raised by the communities and pledged to continue efforts to attract development to the area.
Obenwa said Isuikwuato had benefited from Kalu’s representation through road and educational projects, adding that his interventions extended across communities in the five local government areas that make up Abia North.
She also praised his legislative record, saying his sponsorship of bills and motions on national issues showed that his activities were not limited to constituency projects.
“What is important to us is performance. Senator Kalu has not forgotten Isuikwuato. His projects are there for people to see, and in Abuja he has continued to speak for Abia North. We want that partnership to continue,” she said.
On President Tinubu, Obenwa said his administration had embarked on reforms and infrastructure projects which, according to her, required continuity to produce their full benefits.
She cited major road projects, the student loan programme and infrastructure investments, including projects she said would benefit the South-East, among the reasons she was canvassing support for the President.
“President Tinubu inherited enormous challenges, and nobody is saying that everything has been solved. But we can see the work going on. We need continuity to consolidate these programmes and allow more of their impact to reach ordinary Nigerians,” she said.
“I am therefore appealing to our people in Isuikwuato to stand with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in 2027. We have seen their records. Let us support them to continue the work.”
Obenwa urged APC members and supporters in Isuikwuato to take the message to the grassroots and engage residents on the records of the President and the senator ahead of the 2027 general election.
