The Deputy Governor of Abia State, his Excellency, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu (FNSE) have assured the people of Ohafia of his commitment to good governance and development of Ohafia communities then Abia State in general.
The deputy governor reemphasized his commitment to Ohafia development while addressing members of Amaekpu Development Union who paid him a visit to congratulate him. The group was lead by the Ezieogo of Amaekpu, Ezieogo Uduma Obuba Kalu and Chief Alum Otis who is the president general of Amaekpu Development Union.
While addressing them, the deputy governor told them that he is already working to restore electricity supply to Ohafia communities and that the project will be completed soonest. He also told them about the ongoing desilting of drainages and planned reconstruction of the Amaekpu-Okagwe -Oboro road. The amiable deputy also told his kinsmen that the Dr. Alex Otti lead government in Abia State is going to commence the reconstruction of Ohafia General Hospital soonest as part of efforts to improve health care delivery services to Abians. He also told them about the upcoming health insurance program that will ensure that all Abians are provided health care services whenever the need arises. He told them that the government have commenced enrollment of pensioners into the health insurance program.
The deputy governor also emphasized his commitment to creating job opportunities and empowerment of Abia State people. He informed them that the agricultural development policies of this new Abia will favour the Abia North region due to its comparative advantage in that regards. Rice, fish, poultry, yam, cassava and other cash crop farming, processing then packaging systems will be installed. He also told them about the proposed cement production facility that will be located in Ohafia.
The deputy governor ended by asking the people of Amaekpu to always remain a peaceful community and encouraged them to be more vigilant in securing of public assets.
