Abia community, Ngwaoma Autonomous community in Ugwunagbo local government has commended the Abia police command for raiding and destroying hard drugs and criminal/kidnappers hideouts in the area.
The traditional ruler of the community, Eze Ezeji Chimeze Ogbonna, the President General, and the community’s 12 village heads had petitioned the Mayor of Ugwunagbo LG, urging him to clear the community of criminal hideouts.
In line with the request, the Abia state police command, yesterday, carried out a raid on some black spots in the community, to rid the area of criminals.
Commending the police in a statement, Eze Ogbonna said the raid has not only returned peace to the community, but has cleared the area of criminal elements.

“The activities of these criminals overwhelmed the local vigilante groups, whose members have largely chosen to join or protect the criminals, as well as take laws into their hands
“These criminal members arrest, torture and detain innocent citizens for days in their private cells.
They said that the criminals in the area had setup drug bunks in many parts of the community, where they gather to buy and take illicit drugs which at times serve as kidnappers’ hideouts.”
While commending the state Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isah for sanitizing the area, the traditional ruler charged him not to allow criminals return to the community.
