The senator representing Abia North District in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State is more united than ever and poised to win the presidential and governorship elections in the state.

Senator Kalu made this known on Friday at his hometown, Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, while addressing members of the Reality Organisation, OUK Movement and the APC drawn from across the state during their first quarterly meeting.

The former Abia governor, to give more credence to the unity of purpose now in the party, said that although he was not around during the last congress of the party in the state, he was in agreement with whatever happened at the congress.

“Abia APC is one, even the congress held last week, we all agreed on what should be done, and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, was asked to execute it, so I am in total agreement with what he did.

“Those talking about disunity in the party do not know that Ben Kalu is a member of Reality Organisation; he was supposed to have attended the meeting today (Friday).”

Re-emphasising his earlier stand on 2027, Kalu said Abia APC will give President Bola Tinubu overwhelming votes in 2027, unlike what happened in 2023.

Apart from ensuring victory for Tinubu, Kalu said the party will also win the governorship and the three senatorial seats in the state.

“What happened in 2023 in Abia will not happen again; nobody should sabotage us this time around. I have told the president that we are going to deliver him, and that is what it’s going to be.

“We are going to deliver the president in Abia because he has pumped much money into the state, and we have to reciprocate by voting for him in 2027. Our governor should always make the people know the federal government’s contribution in the development of the state.

“We are going to correct the mistakes of the past and ensure we get the best from the Tinubu administration.”

He thanked President Tinubu for his efforts in trying to establish state police, saying he advocated for state police when he was governor about 20 years ago.

He said the National Assembly will be enacting a law that will not make it possible for state governors to abuse the president’s good intentions.

The immediate past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, poured encomiums on Senator Kalu, whom he called “the leader of all leaders”, for his political sagacity.

“All politicians in Abia today were made by Senator Kalu; my father becoming the governor of Abia State is the handiwork of God and Senator Kalu. OUK made me what I am today, and I will always remain grateful.”

He promised to join Senator Kalu in ensuring that President Tinubu will be re-elected in 2027 and that the APC wins the governorship.

“Nobody will challenge Senator Kalu from going back to the Senate in 2027, because he has done very well. I am solidly behind him, as we are going to vote for Tinubu; we will also do the same for OUK so that we can get the dividends of democracy.”

Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu expressed joy at the unity of purpose prevailing in the party and urged members to ensure they obtain their voter cards to enable them to exercise their rights during the election.

He declared interest in the governorship race of the state in 2027 and urged all to support him.

The secretary of the APC in the state, Chidi Avoaja, commended Senator Kalu for all he has been doing for the party.

He said the party will do all within its power to ensure victory for President Tinubu and whosoever the party brings out as its governorship candidate in 2027.
