…Endorses Nwamkpa for National Welfare Secretary position
From Okey Sampson, Umuahia
Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reaffirmed that the suspension of former Minister, Sampson Ogah, remains valid following what the party described as his involvement in anti party activities.
This is just as the party has endorsed Donatus Nwankpa for the position of National Welfare Secretary at the forthcoming national convention of the APC scheduled for March 28, 2027.
Ogah was voted to have said over the weekend during an event organized by the Labour Party (LP) in Isuikwuato, that he and his support the re-election of Governor Alex Otti in 2027.
Addressing journalists on Monday after a meeting involving the party’s State Working Committee and the 17 Local Government Area chairmen, the party’s Legal Adviser, Vigenus Chukwudi Nwankwo, said Ogah had already been suspended at the ward and local government levels since 2022 over alleged anti party activities.
Nwankwo explained that the NWC could not suspend Ogah again, but only reaffirmed the existing disciplinary action against him.
Citing the provisions of Article 22, Section 2, Sub section 2 of the party’s constitution, he maintained that Ogah remains a suspended member of the party.
He added that the party would rely on the existing suspension rather than initiating a fresh disciplinary process.
“A suspended member remains suspended until the suspension is officially lifted. As far as the party is concerned, Dr. Uche Ogah remains under suspension and therefore does not speak for the APC.”
