The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has conducted its state congress in Abia State, producing a new exco ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The congress, held in Umuahia, saw the emergence of Kalu Kalu Agu as state chairman through a voice vote, alongside other elected executives.

Chairman of the Congress Committee, Fredrick Onwe, said the exercise was conducted in line with party guidelines, expressing confidence in the stability and future of the party in Abia State.

He said the congress forms part of ongoing efforts by the ADC to strengthen its structure in Abia State and prepare for upcoming electoral contests ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Agu pledged to unite party members and reposition the ADC for electoral success in the state.

He added that reconciliation would be central to strengthening the party’s structure.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand. We will bring every aggrieved member back to our fold,” he said.

Also speaking, the State Publicity Secretary, Francess Ogbonnaya, said the party was already positioning itself to present credible candidates for the governorship and other elective positions in the 2027 general elections.
