The Abia State Government has announced a partnership with the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA) to drive the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.
The state governor, Dr Alex Otti, stated this in Aba during the investiture of Mazi Jude Nwosu as the 18th President of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA).
Represented by the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mrs Salome Obiukwu, Otti said Nwosu’s leadership of ACCIMA was coming at a time when the state government was partnering with the private sector, led by ACCIMA, to improve the fortunes of the city in particular and the state in general.
The governor said his administration had put in place an enabling environment that has made the state investment-friendly and allowed trade and commerce to thrive.
“This administration has put in place the enabling environment that has made the state investment-friendly and for trade and commerce to thrive.”
While promising a robust relationship with the new leadership of ACCIMA, Otti urged Nwosu to render selfless service that will help make Abia truly number one in the country.
The new ACCIMA President, Nwosu, said the Chamber stands as a beacon of economic growth, a platform where ideas are born, partnerships forged, and opportunities are harnessed.

He expressed delight that his investiture as president of ACCIMA came at a time Abia is undergoing monumental infrastructural development.
“Abia has of course returned to the global map for good reasons sequel to the policies and purposeful leadership of the present government. From aggressive infrastructural revolution to robust security architecture and clear direction of good governance, Abia has never been this focused on delivering dividends of democracy.”
Therefore, “Our agenda is clear: to evangelise the gospel of the new Abia to the world and attract massive investments to our state, to amplify the voice of our members, to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, and to champion initiatives that drive sustainable development.
“We will work tirelessly to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors, ensuring that our policies and programmes are in sync with the vision of the state government but tailored to meet the needs of our vibrant business community.”
He pledged to be transparent and to improve on what he met on the ground during his tenure.
The former President of the Chamber, Chief Geoffrey Uzoagbara, had earlier recalled that the Chamber under him hosted the British High Commissioner, Dr Richard Montgomery, Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria, Bui Quoc Hung, and the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard M. Mills Jr, all in a bid to bolster trade and commerce between the Aba business community and those countries.
Uzoagbara disclosed that during his tenure, the Chamber was able to attract over 35 new members and had a cordial relationship with other business associations and groups, including the Nigeria Shippers’ Council, Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Abia Suite Export Growth Lab, Nigerian Society of Engineers, NAFDAC, and SON, among others.
