The Royal Family of Bayagan-Ile Community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has raised the alarm that Oba Kamilu Salami, who was abducted four days ago, is yet to regain his freedom.

A statement by the spokesman for the Royal Family, Alhaji Rafiu Ayinla Lawal, said Oba Salami is still in captivity, contrary to fake news circulating that he has been rescued by local hunters.

“I wish to formally address and debunk the false information currently circulating across various media houses (Daily Sun not included) and social media platforms, claiming that our monarch has been rescued by local hunters. This report is completely untrue.

“I personally spoke with Kabiyesi on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025, and he confirmed that he is still in the custody of his abductors. The narrative suggesting that he has regained his freedom is fake and should be disregarded in its entirety.

“We appeal to the public, bloggers, media outlets, and community members to stop sharing unverified reports. The media should kindly ensure that any information concerning Kabiyesi’s situation is confirmed directly from the Royal Family to avoid misinformation and unnecessary tension. For any verification, contact: 08023027537,” he stated.

Oba Kamilu Salami, the Ojibara of Bayagan, was abducted from his farm in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Saturday morning. His abductors have since contacted the community and demanded a N150 million ransom for his release.
