The abducted former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State.University(EKSU)Ado-Ekiti, Prof. Olorunfemi Olaofe, has been found dead.
The 79- year- old Professor of Chemistry from Ekiti State was on July 9, 2024 abducted alongside his security guard in his residence in Ado-Ekiti, capital of the State.
The retired university don was said to have been driven away by his abductors  in his car, which according to the police, was recovered some days after the incident.
A family member who spoke on condition of anonymity said “the abductors initially contacted the family and demanded N50 million ransom, the amount was later reduced to N15 million.”
Another family member said ” the abductors were unable to collect the ransom before he(victim) was found  buried in a shallow grave in the bush”
The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Adeniran Akinwale, confirmed the death of the former DVC, adding that some people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
 ” Yes, the professor has been found dead and we are doing everything possible to exhume the body for burial.
” However, we have arrested so many people and you know the circumstances surrounding the incident and we suspected insider’s work in which the security man employed by the professor was the one who planned it.
” They(abductors ) kidnapped the man with him so that we will not suspect. In the process of rescuing him, we have arrested some people. I can’t say much about the security guard, but at the appropriate time, we will brief the public.”
