Film equipment rental and entertainment content production company, Abazee Productions, has collaborated with star actress, Iyabo Ojo’s Fespris Productions, Alaba Ultimate and FilmOne to produce the epic film, Labake Olododo.
Staring Iyabo Ojo as the eponymous character, Labake Olododo, which hits the cinemas today, March 28, is a Yoruba language film subtitled in English that talks about love, betrayal and sacrifice combined with action, drama, comedy and romance.
The movie, which premiered last weekend held social media hostage with the colourful celebrities and guests that graced the occasion. This successful run is no surprise, as the founder/CEO of Abazee Productions, Abayomi Olukanmi, has for over two decades worked tirelessly to carve a place for himself in the entertainment industry.
Olukanmi began his career as a Production Assistant and Personal Assistant to production companies and celebrities before founding Abazee Productions in 2014. Since then, he has facilitated Nigerian and African entertainment storytelling, mainly through film equipment rental for directors like Clarence Peters, TG Omori and Dammy Twitch, subsequently becoming the go-to man for such.
Through Olukanmi, Afrobeats superstars including Davido and Asake have been able to show the world their creativity through their infectious songs. Also, advertising agencies patronise Abazee Productions to film their TV commercials.
In 2023, Olukanmi partnered Sony Middle East and Africa to introduce the Venice 2 Sony Camera into the Nigerian market, a modern camera designed for filming for cinemas and online platforms.
Speaking about the future of entertainment business in Nigeria, Olukanmi said: “Lagos is the capital of African entertainment and will continue to be so. We are the reference point for our continent in this field, so the onus is on entrepreneurs like myself to continue raising the bar and quality of content we put out for the world to experience.”
Olukanmi has also diversified by releasing films on YouTube. His latest movie, Spy Cam, parades Nollywood stars like Femi Branch, Chinonso Arubayi, Jide Awobona and Kingsley Nwachukwu. The film tackles male erectile dysfunction in modern-day marriages.
This year, Abazee Productions has also released several other movies on YouTube including Shattered Ties, Love Found Us, Midnight Caller, Finding Us Again, and Moment of Lust.
