It is commendable that the efforts are being made by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to recover funds looted from the treasury by politicians and other political leaders. The President has even said that the government has been deploying the recovered funds to finance the 2017 budget. However, I have one question for President Buhari: please did you refer to funds recovered at that federal level or state or local government levels. It is somewhat confusing. Must recovered looted state funds be taken over by the federal government? That would amount injustice done to the states and local governments.
The federal government, right from the time of former President Olusegun Obasanjo up to the Goodluck Jonathan, has not been totally transparent in this matter, neither has it explained how the fund were used and the concrete identifiable infrastructure built with the recovered looted funds.
