A’ Ibom LG Poll : PDP nominates 31 chairmanship, 368 councillorship candidates

Akwa Ibom state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) said the party has nominated 31 chairmanship from all the local government areas and 368 councillorship candidates across all the wards ahead of October local government elections in the state .
The exercise held in different council areas in the state was said to be peaceful as party members and stakeholders came out in large number to elect chairmanship and councillorship candidates of their choice .
It was gathered that almost all the candidates emerged through consensus arrangements where all the stakeholders agreed on who will fly the flag of the party in October local government poll in the state .
In Ikot Akpa Nkuk the headquarter of Ukanafun local government where the state chairman of PDP , Rt Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan comes from, the exercise witnessed the nomination of Hon Uyo Ukpanah who emerged as the party flag bearer .
Akpan lauded delegates and party faithfuls for the success and restated the party’s readiness to win at the polls continue to deliver good governance to the people.
In Abak, the primaries also ended on a peaceful note as delegates converged at the Independence Hall, Abak, to elect Mrs Ime Charles as the party flag bearer in the forthcoming local government elections.
In Uyo Ward 7 the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, joined other party faithful in the area to nominate their preferred Councillorship aspirant, Mr Uduakabasi Sunday Dan with Party supporters trouping out in their numbers to queued behind the councillorship candidate in the ward
It was reported that the exercise was peaceful in all the three senatorial districts in the state .
Meanwhile, the state governor and leader of PDP in the state pastor Umo Eno has appreciated Akwa Ibom people, particularly party faithfuls for conducting themselves peacefully during the exercise especially in a period where several parts of the country are vin serious turmoil.
Eno congratulated the chairmanship candidate of his local government Nsit Ubium, Mr Alfred Charles and all councilorship candidates who emerged from the nomination exercise.
He charged them to be ready to work and maintain the democratic ethos of the PDP as well as contribute to driving the community development efforts encapsulated in his ARISE Agenda.
” You are nominated to drive development programmes at the grassroot in line with A-R-I- S-E agenda of this administration in the state. ” He said .
