Akwa Ibom state governor Pastor Umo Eno has announced the state commissioner for Culture and Tourism Dr Anieti Udofia as the “Commissioner of the year 2025 ” with cash prize of N20m.
Eno made the pronouncement in his country home Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium local government area of the state .
The governor explained that the award was in recognition of the Tourism Commissioner’s outstanding performance, leadership during the successful organisation of Christmas Unplugged 2025.
Christmas Unplug 2025 is an annual event by the state ministry of Culture and Tourism that captures tourists across the world as well as bringing together the 31 local government areas of the state to showcase their rich cultural heritage on daily basis with each local government area having their day.
Eno also announced cash donation of N100m for the organizing committee of the Christmas Unplug 2025

“I hereby appreciate the Commissioner of Culture and Tourism Dr Anieti Udofia with ₦20 million as an appreciation gift to Dr. Udofia and approved ₦100 million for the Christmas Unplugged Committee and Team”.
Eno expressed appreciation for the dedication, commitment, and hard work of the Commissioner and the entire team, noting that their efforts contributed significantly to the success of the event.
“A formal award will be presented to the commissioner during the State Executive Council meeting to be held soon.”
