A/Ibom: Consensus candidates win APC primaries as non anointed loose out

It was massive victory for consensus candidates of the All Progressives Congress(APC) primaries across the 10 federal constituencies in all the 329 wards in Akwa Ibom state.

Uduak Odudoh(Ikot Abasi), Paul Ekpo(Etinan), Mark Esset(Uyo), Clement Jimbo(Abak), Martins Esin(Oron) and Ukpong Udo(Ikono/Ini) federal constituencies were among incumbents who won APC’s return tickets to the House of Representatives.

Others include Hon Unyime Idem in Ukanafun/ OrukAnam Federal Constituency who clinched the party ticket for term

However, the incumbent for (Eket/Onna/Esit-Eket/Ibeno) federal constituency Hon Okpolupm Etteh lost to Mrs. Eunice Thomas, a former commissioner for women affairs under Ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio.

Governor Umo Eno had earlier warned aspirants who bought the party nomination forms against his instruction that they were on their own

In Uyo Federal Constituency, party faithful gathered at QIC Group School, Oku, for the primary election where Hon. Mark Esset emerged unopposed after polling all votes cast by delegates.

In Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, the incumbent lawmaker, Uduak Odudoh, defeated other aspirants, including Dr. Idongesit Wilson Nta and Mr. Udeme Idemudo, to clinch the party’s ticket for the forthcoming elections.

Similarly, in Northern Ukanafun Ward 4, Unyime Idem emerged as the APC consensus candidate after polling 2,025 votes in an unopposed contest conducted at Ikot Akpan Ntuen.

Delegates in Itu Local Government Area also turned out in large numbers for the primary election, where Rt. Hon. Ime Okon secured overwhelming support to emerge as the APC candidate for Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency.
