A/Ibom @39: Eno inaugurates health centre for healthcare delivery in rural communities

Akwa Ibom state governor pastor Umo Eno has commissioned model primary health centre in Ikot Ekpe, Mkpat Enin local government area as part of activities to mark the 39th anniversary of the state creation and continuous healthcare delivery rural communities.

Addressing the people during the commissioning ceremony, Eno explained that the facility is expected to provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to residents of Ikot Ekpe and neighbouring communities.

Eno disclosed that the healthcare project was in fulfilment of his promise to the people of Mkpat Enin and a practical expression of the healthcare component of the ARISE Agenda of his administration.

” This project is a fulfillment of my campaign promise to the people . It’s also one of the contributions to the health sector reforms to make healthcare services available and affordable to people in rural communities

” It is meant to improve the health standard of the people as captured in the Arise Agenda of this administration ”

Eno who was represented by the Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga announced that he would soon return to the local government area to commission 10.8-kilometre Mkpat Enin–Efa Road, which links the area with neighbouring communities in Etinan Local Government Area.

In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Engr. Emmanuel Inyang, expressed appreciation to Governor Umo Eno on behalf of the host community and the entire people of Mkpat Enin for the healthcare facility.

He assured of the people’s continued support for governor Umo Eno’s administration adding that the area was prepared to reciprocate the development efforts with massive support during 2027 elections.

The Commissioner of health in the state Dr Ekem John while presenting an overview of the health facility said the Model Primary Health Centre was equipped with modern facilities and adequately staffed to meet the primary healthcare needs of the people and its environs.

John disclosed that residents would no longer need to travel long distances in search of basic healthcare services, particularly pregnant women and children.

In their goodwill messages, the State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Obong Stephen Ntukekpo and member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Uwem-Imoh Ita as well as former Transition Committee Chairman in the local local government area , Lady Ekaette Usip lauded governor Eno for his healthcare development initiative in rural areas .

” This health facility is built to World Health Organization (WHO) standards . We have confidence that it would contribute significantly to reduce morbidity and mortality in this area” .

The stakeholders commended Governor Eno for translating the ARISE Agenda into tangible projects and programmes adding that the interventions in road infrastructure, Model Schools, Compassionate Homes and healthcare have contributed significantly to the socio-economic wellbeing and improved living conditions of the people.

” These provisions would combine to improve the living standard of the people ”

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Patrick Eshiet who is an indigene of the community where the facility is located commended Eno for not only constructing the Model Primary Health Centre but also equipped it with necessary facilities and integrated it into the state healthcare system.

” I appreciate governor Umo Eno for sustaining the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Scheme and recruiting thousands of healthcare personnel across health facilities in the State

“This initiatives are part of the administration’s efforts to bring quality healthcare closer to the grassroots.

” Let me also appreciate the people of Ikot Ekpe for protecting this facility throughout the construction process . I charge you you to sustain the gesture and continued to secure this facility for the well being of the people”.
