Akwa Ibom state governor pastor Umo Eno has inaugurated Methodist Model Primary School being an 87 years old public school in Obot Akara local government area as part of activities to mark 39 years anniversary of the state creation.
The inauguration of the 16th Model Primary School at Obot Akara, became a carnival of a sort as youths, women, the elders and stakeholders of the area gathered to celebrate Governor Umo Eno’s impactful achievements in the area.
The 87 years old school, located in Obot Atan, Obot Akara local government area is one of the schools renovated by Eno in the anniversary projects commissioning within the month of September.
Eno, while commissioning the project explained that the school reflected his administration’s commitment to improve educational infrastructure across the state.
Eno who was represented by former commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state Sir Monday Ebong Uko said the school was his alma mater
“This is where I did my Primary 6 in 1980. At the time, it was not this good, and there were no computers.
“So, we thank the Governor for this wonderful educational facility. This is how to govern. This is how to plan for the future of the youths of this State
“It may interest you to know that this is the second Model Primary School constructed in Obot Akara by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno. We are the only Local Government Area to have received two Model Primary Schools”
The Commissioner for Education Prof Ubong Umoh while presenting an overview of the project, disclosed the school was originally built in 1939 and has now been remodeled with 17 classrooms, a library, an ICT laboratory, and staff accommodation comprising a two-bedroom and a three-bedroom flats.
Umoh said the facility is solar-powered, fully fenced and protected with adequate security, as pupils are being educated free of charge in addition to receiving school bags, socks, shoes and uniforms through the Governor’s benevolence.
The member representing Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and Obot Akara Federal Constituency Patrick Umoh, commended governor Umo Eno’s development record in the area.
“Your Excellency, I can testify that you have done so much for Obot Akara in just three years,” Umoh said.
In their separate goodwill messages Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, House of Assembly Member, Jerry Otu, and former federal lawmaker Abom Tony Esu, said the administration had delivered numerous projects to the local government area within a short period and pledged continued support for the Governor.
“We thank God for this wonderful day. In less than three and a half years, Pastor Umo Eno has executed numerous projects in Obot Akara
” In eight years, he will do even more, with over 50 projects in Obot Akara. That is why the people of Obot Akara remain solidly behind him, and we are ready to give him our support come 2027
“With the commissioning of this facility, Obot Akara now stands as a benchmark for educational infrastructure delivery under the ARISE Agenda, as the administration continues its push to upgrade primary schools across Akwa Ibom’s 31 local government areas”
Earlier the local government chairman sir Dominic Akpan in his goodwill message welcomed the Eno and lauded him as the team manager of Akwa Ibom state .
“Today is an epoch making event in Obot Akara local government area. Our governor visits Obot akara every 4 months to either commission or flag off a project.
“When I hear someone talk about 2027,it doesn’t affect our people . Obot Akara has a commanding force on how to beat other local government areas to the highest number of votes in the 2027 election for APC.
“Our people are ready for President Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno and all APC candidates”, he said .
