The battle line is drawn and Nigeria is set to do a titanic battle today against Cote d’Ivoire, host of the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers here in Abidjan.

Mfon Udofia, the stand in Head Coach of the team in the absence of Mike Brown, told Daily SunSports after the team’s practice session Thursday morning that he is satisfied with the players’ reaction on the court.

“D’Tigers are ready and rearing to go. The practice session has been great with the players showing eagerness to get the job done.”

Also speaking, Assistant Coach of the team, Ogoh Odaudu noted that the team’s early arrival in Abidjan has helped the players to bond and practice together. “There’s a lot more difference in the team’s pattern of practice for this Window. The team is ready as it be and will give a good account.”

Players that trained yesterday include Uche Iroegbu, Michael Gbinije, Christopher Obekpa,, Chimezie Metu, Josh Okogie, Keith Omoerah, Amanze Egezeke, Gbinije Michael,  Benjamin Emelogo, Reuben Abuchi and Jordan Ogundiran. The 12th player, Godwin Omenaka arrived late to replace Abdul Malik who is out due to COVID-19.

With Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire with one win over each other, the game billed for Palais de Sports, Treichville promises to be engaging with the home fans ready to add pressure on the Nigerians.
