A 30-year-old man, identified as Garuba, says he killed his wife over N2, 000 feeding fee.

Garuba, a commercial driver from Ihima in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State,  said his late wife, Falilat, picked up a quarrel with him over his inability to cater for the family.

Garuba had been married to Falilat for 15 years.

In his words “My wife requested for N4,000 for her to go and purchase food items, but I managed to give her N2,000 promising that the following day I would run round for the balance.

“But she started cursing me when I insisted she must return back #500 from the #2,000 so that I could use it to run around  .

“Before I knew what was happening, she landed a slap on my face and this made me to be drenched in fury as I pick up a knife and shook her at her oesophagus ” he added

Garuba, who now regretted his action, asked for forgiveness and expressed concern over the health condition of their 15-year-old son.

Parading 15 other suspects for various offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, castle rustling and stealing,  the  deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations, Yahaya Abubakar, who represented the police commissioner, said the crime rate in Kogi State has reduced owing to proactive crime detention strategies.

He said within the last three weeks over 70 suspects have been arrested and paraded within the state command.

While commending the state governor for his support in the control of criminal activities in the state, he called on members of the public to continue to provide useful information to the police.

Items recovered include three vehicles namely one green Volkswagen golf with registration number Lagos KSF 911EH, one White colour golf car with registration number Kogi AjK375 AA and Toyota Camry car with registration number Lagos SMK 620 DE.

Other items recovered are one double barrel gun ,one barretta pistol, one single barrel gun, several live cartridges, among others.
