The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 30 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers, recovering goods, human skull, arms and ammunition from them. Also the arrested were 18 suspected criminals during fracas in Ibadan after the governorship election. They are presently at custody at State CID Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olukolu Sina,

Said: “The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives arrested two suspects, Michael and Yekini, who specialised in attacking trailer drivers on the highway. We raided their hideout at Odo-Ona, Kekere, Ibadan. They were seen off loading some brand new tricycles from a Mack truck with registration no. Lagos KTU 400 XB suspected to have been hijacked. The suspects confessed to have diverted the Mack truck loaded with 24 pieces of brand new tricycles from Apapa Whorf to Isolo in Lagos State.

“Operatives of Igbetti Area Command during stop-and-search exercise intercepted a Mitsubishi lancer commuter vehicle with Reg. No. XS 814 BDJ and recovered a human skull in a bag which belonged to one Musa and one other at large. They boarded the vehicle from Ilesha Baruba, Kwara State, to Ogbomoso. The suspect claimed to be a farmer and herdsmen and will soon be charged to court.

“The Drug Law Enforcement Agency on stop-and-search operation at Guru Maharaji, on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, intercepted a commercial bus stop and recovered a cut-to-size double barrel gun and four live cartridges from Sheriff who happened to be a passenger in the vehicle. “SARS Commande, Sola Aremu, with his operatives arrested some notorious criminals hijacking trucks carrying petroleum products on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway. They diverted a trailer loaded with 33,000 liters of PMS to Soka area of Ibadan. A team of SARS operatives swung into action arrested a member of the criminal gang, Kola.

“Seven suspected hoodlums from Aderogba and Oje areas of Agugu in Ibadan broke into shops and looted some goods including provisions, assaulted drinks and foodstuffs. SARS operatives from Agugu, Idi-Aro, Mapo and Yemetu swung into action arrested the suspects restoring sanity to the area. The suspects will soon be charged to court.”
