Some United States and United Nation agencies involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS have donated a utility vehicle and some logistics that would help Nigeria intensify the fight against the disease.
The donation was meant to afford the Federal Ministry of Health officials conducive working environment to formulate and implement interventions and other enlightenment programmes on HIV/AIDS.
Last year, the US supported Nigeria with $110 million for a project, the National AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS), to ascertain the true state of HIV burden in Nigeria and how best to approach the intervention of improved result.
The survey was concluded in December 2018. President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to launch the preliminary report of the survey, in Abuja, today.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who received the logistics donation in Abuja, yesterday, expressed optimism that the donation would herald the beginning of an end to HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.
