In order to lessen the scourge of housing shortage in the state, the Niger State Government has commenced the construction of 200 units of housing estate for the indigenes of the state.

The project which is in partnership with Happy Home Builders Nigeria Limited, will be executed under a Public Private Partnership (PPP). The estate is modeled to included a one-bedroom bungalow and two-bedroom duplexes at the Abubakar Sani Bello Housing Estate in Suleja-Madalla-Abuja Road, in Rafinsayin.   

According to the firm, the project is on a 33.4 hectares of land and has 371 number of plots with an average size of 450 square meters (Sqm) located opposite Community Secondary School, by Old Barracks on the Suleja-Madalla Road.

The state Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Alhaji  Musa Kanko, who represented Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, during the ground-breaking ceremony, said the project was a welcome development and would go a long way in ensuring that people in the state had decent and affordable homes.

The Abubakar Sani Bello Housing Estate, an initiative of the Suleja Local Government Council, is supported by the Niger State Government. “The issue of housing cannot be overemphasized due to its importance to humanity and we as a government want to let the people know that we are committed to ensuring that decent houses are provided and our people, far and near, are accommodated. We want to assure the developer that every support needed to complete the project we will give it to succeed,”Bello said.

The Niger State Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Housing, Dr Abdul Hussain, stated that the state would assist the developer to issue individual Certificates of Occupancy to subscribers of the estate.

In his appreciation, the Managing Director, Happy Home Builders Limited, Lukman Komolafe, commended the governor for his response and action in promoting PPP to meet the housing needs in the state especially in the area of land acquisition and documentation.

Komolafe also acknowledged recent promo by the state government through the Ministry of Lands and Housing, for issuing Cs of O to applicants for as low as N5,000 and N15,000 in rural and urban areas respectively in less than one month.
