The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has petitioned the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mohammed Abba, alleging plans by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s aides to attack local government secretariats with thugs.

A letter addressed to the CP and the Department of State Services (DSS) dated June 16, and signed by the party’s legal adviser, Adegoke Ogunsola, alleged that some aides of Governor Adeleke and the state chairman of the PDP, Sunday Bisi, were planning to attack the Court of Appeal’s reinstated chairmen and their councillors.

The APC urged the CP to swing into action and ensure safety of the council chairmen in the state.

The letter read: “The information at our disposal is that plans are being perfected to recruit armed thugs that will be deployed to attack the local government councils’ political functionaries who were elected on October 15, 2022 on the platform of APC.”

When contacted, the PDP’s Director of Media, Oladele Olabamiji said the APC was afraid of its shadow and jittery over nothing.

He said: “APC is  always jittery over nothing. Perhaps, they are afraid of their own shadow. They know that, perhaps, that is what they do when they are in government. But for us, we don’t have anything to do with violence.

“The people of the state can attest to that. The governor being the leader of the state, if he was to be violent, I believe many of the APC leaders would not be in this state today. When they came up with their shenanigans, fomenting trouble, relying on federal might, relying on the support of the police and others, the governor, instead of matching them with our own might of the support of the people, took the path of peace and instructed that no body must confront them at the local government,” Olabamiji said.
