President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that his conglomerate paid an impressive N450 billion in taxes to the federal government in 2024, making it Nigeria’s highest tax-paying corporate entity for the year.
Dangote made the revelation during a recent engagement with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, where he highlighted the group’s unmatched tax contribution, noting that Dangote companies collectively paid more taxes than all Nigerian banks combined.
In addition to its tax remittances, Dangote stated that the Group is committing a further N900 billion to road infrastructure projects across the country. One of the flagship initiatives under this investment is the construction of the Deep-Sea Port Access Road, developed through the Federal Government’s Tax Credit Scheme.
According to him, the access road is part of a broader infrastructure drive by the Group. “The Deep Sea Port Access Road is one of eight major road projects totalling 500 kilometres, including two in Borno State that will eventually link Nigeria to both Chad and Cameroon,” he said.
Dangote used the occasion to commend President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a bold reformer whose administration has rekindled private sector confidence.
“You are a courageous leader,” Dangote told the President. “Your policies have restored investor trust and enabled the private sector to once again play a vital role in Nigeria’s development.”
He also lauded the President’s foresight in initiating transformative infrastructure projects, particularly the Lekki Deep Sea Port, which he described as a landmark achievement.
“We thank you for your vision and commitment to projects like the Lekki Deep Sea Port,” Dangote said. “You can count on the private sector’s support as we work together to expand infrastructure across the country.”
In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, Dangote revealed that the road leading to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals will be named in honour of the President.
“The Dangote refinery complex is, in many ways, your brainchild,” he said. “Mr. President, let me just say one thing — the main road leading into our refinery is now to be known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road.”
The announcement was met with applause from dignitaries in attendance, as President Tinubu rose from his seat to shake hands with Dangote in a warm and symbolic moment celebrating private-sector partnership and national development.
