In a heartfelt display of appreciation, the Rotary Club of Anthony Golden, District 9112, recently honored dedicated traffic officers with the prestigious excellence award, celebrating their unwavering commitment to maintaining order, community safety and service on the busy roads at Maryland Junction.

 

 

 

The ceremony recognized two exemplary traffic police officers, W/Inspector Agnes Oklenyi and SCP Raheem Idris, alongside Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official Obilana Temitope, for their outstanding performance at Maryland Junction under the Maryland Police Division.

The event attracted community leaders, rotarians and residents, who came together to express their gratitude towards the officers whose efforts ensure the smooth flow of traffic in one of the city’s most busiest areas.

President of the club, Chidi Ogu commended the officers’ relentless dedication. He remarked: “Every day, I witness these officers standing under the scorching sun at Maryland Junction, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic despite dust and harsh weather conditions. SCP Idris, W/Inspector Oklenyi, and Obilana arrive early by 6am and remain on duty late into the evening.

“Their commitment deserves commendation from the police command, and the Rotary Club wholeheartedly recommends them for official recognition.”

Ogu urged other police officers and LASTMA officials to emulate their exemplary conduct, assuring ongoing support from the Rotary Club to motivate and reward hardworking personnel. “Recognizing such dedication boosts morale and inspires others to uphold high standards of service,” he added.

Also, Anniette Udoh praised the officers for their diligent and professional conduct, emphasizing that their exemplary attitude has garnered recognition not only from Rotary but also from other organizations. “They are among the best in the division,” Udoh affirmed, promising more surprises to come in acknowledgment of their professionalism.

The event’s highlight was the award presentation, which included cash gifts to the deserving officers,an affirmation of the community’s appreciation for their service and dedication to maintaining safety on our roads.

“The work that these traffic officers do is often overlooked,” said president of the Rotary Club of Anthony Golden. “Today, we wanted to shine a spotlight on their commitment and sacrifice, often working long hours to keep our roads safe for commuters and pedestrians alike.”

During the ceremony, which took place at the Maryland Junction, accolades were presented to the outstanding officers, recognizing their exemplary service. Awards and certificates of appreciation were distributed, accompanied by heartfelt testimonies from local residents who shared firsthand experiences of how the officers positively impacted their daily lives.
