The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola has extended his sympathy to the government of Kano State, the Sports Ministry and the family of the 19 Kano State athletes that died in a car accident on their way back to Kano after the 22nd National Sports Festival held in Ogun State.
According to a release by his Media Team, the former governor of Osun State said it was indeed painful and disheartening to hear the news of the demise of these athletes, adding that; “what was supposed to be a joyous moment turned sour.”
“I pray God Almighty will grant the state, family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss.”
The minister urged those at the helms of affairs in the sporting sector to learn from the lapses of this big loss and put in place proper systems that will safeguard the movement of sports men and women in the future.
He prayed the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace.
