From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri

Dr Chijioke Kaduru, an aspirant for the Imo East (Owerri) Senatorial District in the 2027 election, has declared his candidacy to improve the lives of his constituents. He also pledged to attract a free trade zone to Ngor Okpala Local Government Area to boost economic activities in Imo State.

Kaduru, a medical doctor and Managing Director of Corona Management Systems, with operations in Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, Lesotho, Congo, Gambia, and Djibouti, emphasised that his political ambition is driven by a desire to make a positive impact, not to seek personal gain.

“Most people join politics in Nigeria as a source of livelihood, but I am here to change lives,” he said during a courtesy visit by the Ngor Okpala Journalists Forum at his home in Obiangwu, Ngor Okpala.

He highlighted his track record of attracting resources to Imo State through his organisation and partnerships with national and international donor agencies. Kaduru promised to be a strong voice in the Senate, advocating for people-oriented laws and delivering democratic dividends to the Owerri zone.

A key goal, if elected, is to establish a free trade zone in Ngor Okpala, which he noted has the landmass and population to host such a project. “The free trade zone will create jobs and boost local content by over 40%,” he said, citing the economic success of similar zones in Lagos and Ogun States.
