…In instalments over three years
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen may continue his career in the Turkish Super Lig, as Galatasaray has reached an agreement with Napoli regarding his transfer.
The club has agreed to pay €75 million in instalments over the next three years.
Recall that the Nigerian striker joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan after his moves to Chelsea and a Saudi Arabian club fell through on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.
Osimhen has a €75 million release clause in his contract and has had an impressive season, scoring 33 goals and providing 8 assists in 38 matches.
According to the Turkish media outlet Fanatik, Galatasaray and Napoli have finalised the details concerning the transfer fee.
However, while waiting for Osimhen’s decision, unforeseen transfer developments have emerged. Journalist İbrahim Seten, speaking on TV100’s popular programme, Ersin Düzen ile Futbolun 100’ü, reported that Fenerbahçe is also interested in acquiring Osimhen and has made an offer to Napoli through manager Mirsad Türkcan.
Seten stated, “Fenerbahçe is looking to sign Osimhen. They are in a position to make an offer and are closely monitoring the situation. In fact, Fenerbahçe’s manager, Mirsad Türkcan, has already submitted an official offer to Napoli. We’re discussing a deal worth €75 million. Fenerbahçe’s offer exceeds Galatasaray’s; if Galatasaray planned to offer around €12-13 million, Fenerbahçe’s proposal is significantly higher. This development could change the dynamics of the transfer.”
Osimhen, who is considered a pivotal player for the Super League since joining Galatasaray on September 4, 2024, faces uncertainty regarding his future with the club. While it was expected that he would make a final decision by April or May, he has since postponed his decision until after May 31.
The 26-year-old forward intends to make a decision based on the outcomes of the European Cup finals and the league standings of the interested teams. Manchester United’s Champions League participation hinges on the result of the Tottenham final, while the match against Inter. Chelsea and Juventus’ qualifications will influence Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer strategy for the Champions League will depend on their final league matches.
It has been reported that Osimhen will not provide a positive or negative response to Galatasaray until the situation becomes clearer. He is not interested in the lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia.
Overall, Osimhen has made a significant impact at Galatasaray this season, playing in 38 matches, scoring 33 goals, and providing 8 assists.
