Birnin Kebbi was vibrant on Saturday, May 3, as the District Head of Gwandagbaji, Alhaji Umaru Ahmad, conferred the traditional title of Fagacin Gwandagbaji on Professor Danshehu Bagudu Gwadangwaji, Vice-Chancellor of Kebbi State University of Science and Technology (KSUSTA), Aliero. Friends, associates, and KSUSTA students gathered at the district head’s palace to celebrate the honour.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Professor Bagudu, a Gwandagbaji native, said he had been offered the title 20 years ago but felt the timing was now right. “This is my community, and I have been contributing a lot to her development. I have strategies enough on ground to continue to contribute my quota to the community development,” he stated.

He noted his foundation’s work supporting orphans, schoolchildren, and the needy, claiming to have employed over 100 people and assisted more than 20,000 students. Bagudu also noted his academic impact, having supervised over 20 PhDs and 50 master’s degrees, and served in federal agencies.
