About 11 people have been killed after the vehicle they were travelling with stepped on Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) near a town in Borno along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
The vehicle which took off from Rann, headquarters of Kala-Balge Local Government on Monday ran on IEDs believed to have been planted by Boko Haram at Furunduma, few kilometres to Gamboru-Ngala, Borno’s restive town twice captured by the terrorists but liberated by the Nigerian military forces.
Sources said three people were injured by the explosion even as other sources claimed the death toll is higher.
The incident was not immediately known due to poor communication in the area.
Both Kala-Balge and Gamboru-Ngala are situated in the central region of Borno State. The area located few kilometres from the Nigeria-Cameroon border, is constantly threatened by terrorist attacks.
