Going by his love for grassroots football, Chairman, Sifax Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi will on Sunday, May 4, celebrates his 63rd birthday with a grassroots football tourney billed for Abati Barrack Mini Stadium, Ojuelegba, Lagos.

The celebrant, whose birthday was originally scheduled for April 29th, shifted all celebration to the final of his annual Taiwo Afolabi U-17 Cup, organized for southwest teams.

Afolabi and other members of Sifax Group, will be position to cheer Onabanjo Babes of  Ijebu Ode and Young Shall Grow FC of Ipaja in the final of the male category while Isolo based  Makbet Queen tackles Dominion Girls of Ikorodu for the female premier medal.

Speaking ahead of the occasion, Public Relation Officer, Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association, Taofeek Ajibola, hinted all hands are on deck to ensure a memorable final. He however applauded the tournament sponsor for his passion for grassroots football development.

“ Dr. Taiwo Afolabi have been doing this for the past nine years and he has been so supportive to the development of football. I can assure you everything is in order to ensure a eye-catchy final which will see top dignitaries cheer upcoming soccer stars. I urged all teams to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and I wish them the very best of luck,” he stated.
