The major opposition parties must form a coalition to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Shehu Sani has said.
This is contained in a cryptic message the former Kaduna Central senator posted on Wednesday.
Last week, the 2023 presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar announced the formation of a coalition to confront Tinubu in the 2027 election.
On Monday, recently reinstated National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu enjoined those currently involved in coalition negotiations for the 2027 elections to reconsider their action and join hands to rebuild and strengthen the PDP.
The 2023 presidential candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo also ruled out the possibility of the party forming a coalition ahead of the 2027 polls.
Adebayo spoke as a guest on Arise Television on Friday March 14.
Emphasising that SDP is not engaged in any discussions regarding a coalition with other political entities, he maintained that the party would maintain its independence and pursue its own agenda ahead of the polls.
However, Sani, who recently returned to the APC, compared the chances of the opposition without a coalition against the ruling party to zebras facing a tiger.
He said, “The major opposition PDP said it’s not interested in coalition. SDP says it’s not joining a coalition and NNPP says no to Coalition; rendezvous in the wilderness with discordant zebras up against the tiger.”
